NIL Portal

This section shows the work from my capstone project for my Masters of Arts in Communication program. The task for this project was to identify an issue in an organization and develop a communication-based solution to said issue. Through a personally conducted research study and analysis of countless other sources, I identified that the NCAA has been negatively impacted from the transparency, trust and fairness issues in the NIL environment. Over the course of six weeks, I wrote a variety of papers showcasing and supporting my claim, as well as designed a comprehensive solution toward this issue. Below are examples of my work as well as deliverables showcasing the proposed solution, the NIL Portal app.

Interface Design

Throughout the course of six weeks, I wrote multiple papers offering insight into various aspects of my proposed platforms. This involved executing and analyzing a quantitative research study, performing a competitor, financial and industry analysis, as well as developing a platform strategy, marketing campaign strategy, and budget. As opposed to dissecting every paper, the “Executive Summary” and a “Platform Function & Solution Alignment” offers insight into the overall project and the purpose of each function of the app. However, each individual paper is linked for deeper review of the comprehensive strategic plan process.

Interface Design

This animation shows the overall design of the proposed NIL Portal app which this project is centered around. Through various research methods, I composed the ideal solution for how the NCAA can solidify themselves as the overseeing entity in the NIL landscape and ultimately solve the transparency, trust and fairness issues in NIL. As covered in the papers linked above, each function is meant to solve a certain issue that has been proven to plague the NIL environment. The interface was designed using Adobe Illustrator and the function animation was created using After Effects.

Streaming Service Advertisement

As part of the marketing campaign, I proposed broadcasting an advertisement for the proposed platform on various streaming services. This could include sport platforms such as the ESPN app, CBS Sports app, or general streaming services like YouTube TV. This ad was made using Adobe After Effects with the intention of promoting brand awareness as well as app functions.

Social Media Advertisement

Another aspect of the proposed marketing campaign was utilizing social media for advertising channels. As seen in the market research, social media is the most effective platform to promote products to the target public of collegiate athletes. This ad was made using Adobe After Effects and showcases real NIL experiences followed by how the proposed platform could ease the process.

NCAA Convention Flyer

As expanded on in the marketing campaign aspect of this project, the annual NCAA Convention offers this platform the ideal direct marketing opportunity to reach the target public of collegiate athletes. As part of the plan for utilizing the convention, I proposed passing out fliers to athletes that show the benefits of the NIL Portal app, as well as a call-to-action and download link.
